Fungi Season is coming!

With all the rain that Australia has been receiving from La Nina, I am getting excited for fungi season!

My friend Ed found this David Attenborough short on amazing Cordyceps fungi:

Soon there will be more fungi posts and hopefully I will find some spectacular ones this year!

  1. That is incredible! Never knew fungi (and plants) could do such things.

  2. Thanks for the links!

We have some fungi experts in my Faculty and local area, including John Field and Andrew Claridge. I also have two students working on truffles this year. It is going to be a very exciting year!

  3. I had the chance to try some yartsa gumba in Nepal, but I didn't know anything about it at the time so passed it up. Knowing it was made from fungus infected zombie caterpillars (Cordyceps sinensis) probably wouldn't have helped sway me, as fascinating as it is.
